The Museum of the Republic of Vietnam (MRVN) opened in the spring of 2016 in Westminster, California. This is the first and only museum in the world dedicated to the history and military of the Republic of Vietnam.
The museum is conveniently located in the heart of the largest Vietnamese diaspora around the world – Little Saigon in Orange County of California, United States. The museum’s mission is to honor veterans, also to preserve and research the history about the conflict between the North and South of Vietnam during the 1950's until 1975. Further, the museum is also a source for education to the younger generations. The museum welcomes visitations from veterans and their families, students, educators, historians, professionals, and anyone who wants to discover more about the rich history of the Republic of Vietnam.

Valuable Heritage from MRVN
Currently, MRVN is a place to keep many precious memorabilia, i.e., military uniforms, photographs, books, art compositions, artifacts, flags in frontline battlefields between the North and South of Vietnam….and, of course, tales of the fallen soldiers.
Furthermore, MRVN is a place where it holds the sentiment values ever unfading away in the hearts of many Vietnamese in exile. Stories were recorded for the future generations for their awareness of their Vietnamese background, which has so much pride. The message is…Yes, we must not forget the struggles and conflicts of the latest war of Vietnam.
Art and Fundraising of MRVN
On October 23, 2022, MRVN featured an art program for its annual fundraising. The guest artist for this event was Le Minh Chau. Chau is a disable oil painter. On this day, Chau was present and completed an oil painting (30”X30”) composition within an hour, from 11am to noon time. The subject matter of the artwork was a yellow and three red stripes flag with two ladies dressed in ao dai was calling for a cyclo ride from an approaching thin man. The setting showed the atmosphere after a pouring rain. Flags from the front ports of homes showing a busting era.
This composition in this artwork is a part of the artist’s major project in the near future. Chau wishes to stay close with the museum for the sharing sentiments in his art.
Additionally, this is a third fundraising in which Le Minh Chau has involved with MRVN. The journeys also had the support of singers Le Hoang Hiep, The Son, and Diem Lien. Le H. Hiep is Chau’s mentor; together they have shared their emotions in art and music. Through some Lives-tream performances, Le Hoang Hiep skillfully organized a medium with mixture of visual art and music. Hiep featured oldie pop songs of composer Lam Phuong and others…. Together with the singers and the artiest, beautiful and sentimental programs were brought to the audience to rekindle.
This year fundraising was a nicely done job. Wishing the MRVN in its mission to continue to expand to welcome more visitors from every place and be present to the Vietnamese background younger generations.
